Help build a better future for children in Tagounite, rural Morocco
Help Us Keep Education and Opportunity Growing in Our Village
Tagounite Sahara is a small volunteer-led project in Tagounite, a village in the Sahara desert of Morocco. I started the project in 2023 in my home village because I wanted to create more opportunities for the children growing up here.
In a small village, children do not have access to the same opportunities as those in larger towns and cities. I wanted to create a place where they could learn skills that can open more doors for them.
Through the project, local children take part in language lessons, sports, creative activities, crafts, and workshops. They meet volunteers from around the world and have the chance to practice languages with people from different cultures.
The project also brings something special to the volunteers who come to Tagounite. They share their knowledge with the children while learning from the local community, our traditions, crafts, and way of life. It is a simple exchange: volunteers give their time and skills, and in return they experience life in our community and learn from us.
Since starting the project, we have welcomed more than 200 children and 600 volunteers. We are now entering our third year, and we need financial support for one specific purpose: to finance the drilling of a new well at the project site.
What do we need?
Our goal is to drill a new well at the project site.
The well will provide a reliable source of water for the project and help meet the daily needs of the school and the people using the site. It will also provide water to nourish the palm trees and support the preparation of clay used for building works.
The funds raised through this campaign will be used exclusively to finance the drilling of this new well.
Who will benefit?
The children of Tagounite are at the centre of this project.
The new well will help ensure that the project has a more reliable source of water, supporting the environment in which children learn and take part in educational and recreational activities.
Future volunteers will also benefit from having access to a better-equipped project site, allowing the community to continue welcoming people who come to contribute their time and skills.
